Enter the site you want to explain. StepCast opens it in a new tab and records each click and field you fill in. When you're done, come back here and press Stop.
First, add the StepCast extension
Recording needs the small StepCast extension in Chrome or Edge. It only captures the tab you record.
Open chrome://extensions and switch on Developer mode.
Choose Load unpacked and select the extension folder from your StepCast download.
Come back here and press Connect the extension.

Create a link that opens this guide for anyone who has it, without signing in. They see the screenshots and steps, and hear your narration if the guide has it.
Share links need the online database. Guides are saved in this browser only until that is set up. Until then, use Export to get a file you can send.

Anyone with this link can view the guide. Views are counted in Analytics.
Viewers can always switch between the two. The written steps are shown below either way.
Embed the guide on another site
Paste this into a web page, wiki or help centre. It shows the playable walkthrough and the written steps. Analytics shows which sites it is embedded on.
Embed the video (.webm)
Publish the narrated video to StepCast to get a video link you can put in a <video> tag. Each time a page loads it, Analytics counts it and shows which site it came from.
A .webm file that someone downloads and uploads elsewhere cannot be tracked. Only the hosted link above is counted.
Counts people who open the share link, the embedded guide or the hosted video. Your own views while signed in are not counted.

Delete
Deletes the guide, its screenshots, recordings and analytics. Its share link stops working.
